Following a successful series of events on the topic of Hydrogen in 2025, SPEERI, along with the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS) and the Energy Research Centre Lower Saxony (efzn), are once again bringing researchers from Scotland and Lower Saxony together for an online academic matchmaking event, this time focusing on critical energy infrastructures in energy and digitalisation of energy systems.

Today is International Clean Energy Day, a day dedicated to raising awareness and promoting action towards clean, affordable, sustainable, and modern energy for all.

The week of the 9th of June 2025, SPEERI’s Energy Technology Partnership hosted the return of the Dutch-German Green Energy Mission to Scotland, mainly from the Dutch Province of Groningen, with partners from the State of Bremen. The visit showcased the energy transition research and innovation already taking place in Scotland, including at a number of our partner universities.

Green Cat Hydrogen has had three of their projects—Creca, Dumfries and Galloway; Binn Ecopark, Perthshire, and Strathallan, Perthshire—shortlisted for the UK Government’s Hydrogen Production Business Model Second Hydrogen Allocation Round (HAR2).

We hosted our first SPEERI Academic Consultation Workshop, bringing together a diverse group of academics from across the Energy and Engineering disciplines to explore collaborative research opportunities and shape future priorities.

The Scottish Partnership in Energy and Engineering Research & Innovation (SPEERI) are attending All-Energy 2025 and will be located on stand A51 throughout the two-day conference.

The inaugural Net Zero Innovators Conference 2025 delivered a dynamic and thought-provoking experience for energy professionals, entrepreneurs, and clean tech enthusiasts alike.

SPEERI has appointed Jennifer Smart as Deputy Director to lead on the energy arm for the partnership. Jennifer brings more than 25 years of experience in construction, built environment, energy & utilities.
