Lower Saxony - Scotland Research Market Place on Critical Energy Infrastructures

Lower Saxony-Scotland Research Market Place on Critical Energy Infrastructures

The Scotland-Lower Saxony Online Marketplace on Critical Energy Infrastructures aims to foster international research collaborations for researchers looking to apply for funding opportunities. ‍Together with researchers from Lower Saxony you can apply for funding calls, such as the Volkswagen Foundation’s Research and Innovation Scheme or DFG funding opportunities. Further information on these opportunities will be provided during the event.

Dates and themes for each online event are as follows

  • Offshore Wind, Hydrogen/Ammonia, and Digitilisation (1st October 2026, 1pm - 4pm BST / 2pm - 5pm CEST)

  • Geothermal Energy, Heat, and Energy Policy/Social Dynamics (6th October 2026, 1pm - 4pm BST / 2pm - 5pm CEST)

How does it work?

  1. Short pitches: Researchers can find potential partners by presenting their research ideas in two-minute pitches (without PowerPoint slides).

  2. Interactive breakout discussions: After the short pitches, you can meet the pitchers in individual breakout rooms – a perfect chance to explore potential opportunities for research collaboration.

For further insight into how the market place will work, take a look at the video below.

Where can I register?

Please register (as a pitcher or participant) at the link below.

Please register by 16th September 2026.

If you just want to participate and exchange ideas with pitchers, you can also register as a visitor. Pitchers have a better chance of a successful exchange.

The event is organized by the European Centre for Advanced Studies (ECAS), the Energy Research Centre of Lower Saxony (efzn) and the Scottish Partnership in Energy and Engineering Research & Innovation (SPEERI).
